The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) held a meeting of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and 12 high-tech start-up companies (start-ups) hoping to attract investment from both Korea and Germany on the 13th (Thursday) with officials from the Berlin state government and Asia Berlin (under the Berlin state government).

The meeting was held in Berlin in February last year to specify a cooperation plan to support Korea-German advanced technology (deep tech) start-ups (start-ups) discussed by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the state government of Berlin after the "Open Debate on Innovation Cooperation (Partnership)" held in Berlin.

At the meeting, measures to discover cooperative projects such as start-up companies (start-up) exchange projects (programs) between the two countries through the sharing of the Korea-German start-up ecosystem (ecosystem) were discussed, as well as support measures for the Asian Berlin Summit organized by the Berlin state government and the Intermediate Gap Continuous (Relay) Corporate Briefing (IR).

Meanwhile, at the demonstration (demoday) held immediately after the meeting, SYP, the organization in charge of attracting investment for the ultra-gap project (project), and Berlin, Asia, signed a business agreement to cooperate with each other for the start-up company (start-up) support project (program). Six ultra-gap start-ups (start-ups) including Whitescan Co., Ltd. in Korea and six start-ups (start-ups) including Germany's self-driving company Deep Safety GmbH held an IR investment attraction (pitching) for European and domestic venture capital (VC) to attract investment.

Lim Jung-wook, head of the start-up venture innovation office, said, "This meeting is a place to materialize the support plan for start-up companies (start-ups) between the two countries, which was discussed at an open discussion (forum) held in Berlin last year, and we are very meaningful in cooperation with the state government of Berlin." "Germany is the fifth-largest country in the world with large start-up companies (unicorns), Berlin is the 13th best city to start a business, and Korea and Germany have similar high-tech and manufacturing-oriented industrial environments. We will actively support exchanges between start-ups (start-ups) from both countries and domestic start-ups (start-ups) to enter Germany."
